At Zippin, we’re on a mission to accelerate the world’s adoption of checkout-free stores, and this summer we saw that mission produce an industry first. Working with Coca-Cola and Dave & Busters, we launched the first in-restaurant checkout-free store in Hollywood, FL in July.
Walk through the Dave & Buster's Game & Go store here.
Zippin is known for its checkout-free stores in quick-serve locations like sports venues and airports where speed and accuracy are important. Being able to shop for snacks and drinks quickly has made checkout-free shopping popular, and just the right technology for Dave & Buster's. Gamers now have the option to sit down to order food or break for a quick snack. Simply tapping a card, grabbing what you’d like, and zipping out has them back in the arcade in a matter of minutes.
Rethinking Retail Innovation
The Game & Go is stocked with a variety of food and Coca-Cola beverages to offer Dave & Buster’s customers quick snack options in addition to stopping by the bar or sitting down for a meal. Christina Ruggiero, President, North America Operations - Central Zone for The Coca-Cola Company said, ”Consumers crave the freedom to explore and enjoy more drink options than ever before.”
A 2021 survey from Qualtrics revealed that more than half of customers say they are likely to decrease or stop spending with a brand after a bad customer experience. Today, customer experience is more important than ever and this popular gaming destination is just the spot you’d expect to see innovation around retail technology to address it. Talking to Nation’s Restaurant News, Director of Operations for Dave & Buster’s, Tim Murphy, said, “I think anything that can enhance the guest experience and make it faster and quicker and offering some new products, that’s what makes it important for Dave & Buster’s.”
History of Making History
Of course, at Zippin we’re used to being the first and confident in taking checkout-free to new locations. We were the first in-arena checkout-free convenience store with our launch at Golden 1 Center in 2019 and the first checkout-free store in RIOGaleão in 2021.
This has been an exciting summer with new locations opening in quick-serve spaces around the world. Recent partnerships with Logicalis and Al Meera extend our global reach while our footprint in sports here in the U.S. is undeniable. Empower Field at Mile High boasts nine locations alone, with fellow NFL venues like Nissan Stadium going all in on checkout-free with five new locations that opened just this month.
