Congratulations to Caitlin Clark, the number one 2024 draft pick of the WNBA!
Clark is considered one of the greatest of all time (GOAT) in college basketball, having earned dozens of awards and broken dozens of records. Clark outscores, outplays, and outworks just about any other player on the court. She has left an indelible mark on NCAA college basketball, especially women's basketball, and will certainly do the same when she enters the WNBA with the Indiana Fever this fall.
In the announcement, Fever General Manager Lin Dunn said,” “We are thrilled to add Caitlin Clark to our roster. This is a great day for the Indiana Fever and all of Pacers Sports & Entertainment. l am confident she will have an immediate impact on our team and the league.” It looks like she already did. Clark’s new team jersey sold out in most sizes within an hour of being drafted.
Gainbridge Fieldhouse hosted a 2024 WNBA Draft watch party on Monday night to cheer on Clark, with nearly 17,000 fans in attendance. Clark showed appreciation for her Hoosier fans, calling Indianapolis a “great basketball city,” expressing her gratitude for joining an organization that loves women’s basketball.
Now the fun begins for Indiana Fever fans and for Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The venue recently completed major renovations to modernize the fan experience and increase capacity to 20,000 to become the “Fieldhouse of the Future.” While last year’s attendance for Indiana Fever games was nearly the lowest in the league, the venue will attract thousands more fans this season.
With so much anticipation and excitement over watching Caitlin’s every play, fans aren’t going to want to miss any of the action. Luckily, there are four Zippin-powered stores at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to serve fans without being stuck in line. With Zippin, transactions are 58% faster, processing over 347% more transactions than a nearby traditional stand.
